The Globowl Difference

At Globowl, we believe that every bite matters. While baby food pouches may seem like an easy option, research shows they come with hidden risks—delaying speech development, increasing the risk of cavities, exposing tiny stomachs to microplastics, and lacking the nutritional variety babies need for a strong start. That’s why we’re encouraging parents to #SkipThePouch and choose real, nourishing food that helps babies grow, thrive, and build lifelong healthy habits.

  • Prevent Picky Eating

Babies have a “flavor window” between the ages of 6 and 18 months when they are most receptive to new flavors. This is the period of time where we can most easily influence the way they eat for the rest of their lives. This prime developmental phase in their lives is perfect for introducing a wide array of textures, flavors and spices.

  • Introduce Allergens Early

The latest pediatric feeding guidelines recommend an “early and often” approach to common food allergens as the best way to prevent future food allergies (asrecommended by the USDAandAmerican Academy of Pediatrics).

Globowl is taking a cue from the rest of the world, where kids are 10x less likely to have food allergies, by feeding them the way they deserve to be fed: delicious meals full of texture, flavor, spice and allergens.

  • Encourage Oral Motor Development

Globowl meals are specifically crafted to a safe texture and size for babies, and made for self- and spoon-feeding.

This is important for developing oral motor muscles, which are stifled by drinking out of a spouted pouch! Spoon feeding and chewing are important for speech and oral motor development, and to prevent future “texture issue” aversions.

  • Avoid Dangerous Microplastics

Globowl uses glass jars to prevent any hazardous plastic byproducts from leaching into the food, which can have seriously harmful effects on a baby's developing organs (and we leave the earth better than we found it!).

We know pouches can be convenient… but more often than not, children consume multiple low-nutrient pouches instead of a full, nutrient-rich meal. On average, children will consume 2-3 pouches vs. one jar of Globowl.

The problem with baby food pouches

  • Delayed Speech & Oral Motor Development

Sucking from a pouch doesn’t engage the same muscles as chewing and swallowing solid food. Babies need a variety of textures to develop essential oral motor skills for chewing, swallowing, and eventually speaking. (Source: Nutrients Study)

  • Sugar Overload & Early Cavities

Many pouches contain concentrated fruit purees that coat tiny teeth with sugar, increasing the risk of cavities—even before age one. Since most babies consume more than one pouch per serving, the impact is significant. (Source: British Dental Association)

  • Microplastics in Baby’s Gut

Soft plastic packaging can leach microplastics into food, particularly when pouches are heated or compressed. These particles may impact gut health in sensitive, developing digestive systems. (Source: Environmental Science & Technology)

  • Missed Opportunity for Early Allergen Introduction

Most baby food brands avoid common allergens, despite guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics and USDA that early exposure helps mitigate food allergies. (Source: New England Journal of Medicine)

Why One Mom Decided to Change Baby Food for Good

When Globowl founder Erica Bethe Levin struggled to find baby food beyond sugary purees in plastic pouches, she knew there had to be a better way.

Drawing from her own experience with picky eating and the lack of diverse textures, she created Globowl—nutrient-rich, globally inspired meals designed to support oral motor development, texture exploration, and early allergen introduction.

Collaborating with award-winning chefs and experts, she built the only baby food brand that nourishes both body and curiosity from the very first bite.
